The station operates year-round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a mix of live and computer-automated programming. KBTL broadcasts over 88.1 FM at 400 watts ERP, covering an approximately 25-mile radius from the campus. Radio and television awards, along with a collection of historic media artifacts, are on display in the reception area. KBTL personnel have received more student production awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters than any 2-year and most 4-year institutions in the station. The station also includes an office/reception area and storage for video equipment checkout and long-term supplies. Currently, KBTL is a self-contained radio broadcast and streaming operation, consisting of a main control studio, news/training production studio and editing production studio. With the Sports Media program, The Grizz broadcasts all Butler football and basketball games. In addition, multiple podcasts are exclusive to our online listeners. The Grizz features sports/talks shows for the brain and comedy shows to get you going. Unlike most radio stations that play only ONE kind of music, The Grizz flavors our Rock-Jazz format with a wide variety of specialty music and talk shows. The Grizz is the student-run radio station for Butler Community College and the surrounding communities.
